The information we collect

Enable Finance provides financial advice in relation to mortgage advisory services.  In order to offer you financial advice we collect personal information from you. This means information that identifies, or is capable of identifying you which may include the following:

  • Legal name / name’s
  • Date of birth
  • Contact details
  • Account details
  • Occupation
  • Prior interactions with us

Information may be gathered in a multitude of ways however most of this personal information is collected from you directly. By choosing to engage with us to provide services to you, we may require personal information from you regarding your financial situation or goals in order to recommend suitable and fit for purpose mortgage products that we are permitted to advise on. There may be a legal requirement in order for us to collect certain personal information from you as a result of engaging with us such as proof of identity by physically verifying your passport. If we request personal information from you and you choose not to provide it, we may be unable to assist you as it would affect our ability to provide services to you and your ability to obtain finance. However, where it is lawful and practicable to do so, we will offer you the opportunity of doing business with us without providing us with personal information, for example, if you make general inquiries about interest rates

Website cookies

Accessing our website may result in a “cookie” being sent to your computer. Cookies are a small summary file containing a unique ID number. This helps us to recognise your computer each time you visit our website. Additionally, cookies are used to measure traffic patterns, determine which areas of our website have been visited, measure transaction patterns, analyse trends, administer the website, track users’ movements and gather broad demographic information. This allows us to research our website users’ habits in order to constantly improve our website for easier accessibility. Is it important to note that while our cookies do not collect personal information, if you choose to submit your contact details, we will then link your details with the cookies information that we currently have on you. Our website may contain links to other websites operated by third parties. Enable Finance is not responsible for content on other websites.  Please review the privacy policies and privacy practices of third-party sites before you use the sites or disclose any personal information.

Security and Disposal of your personal information

Protecting your personal information is of extreme importance to us.  We store personal information both electronically and physically.  We store electronic information in our client relationship management system which is provided by a third party and some of which is cloud based.

In order to protect the personal information that we gather from you, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to assist in safeguarding and securing the information we collect.

By law, Enable Finance is required to retain personal information in relation to client. We usually hold personal information for at least 7 years although we may keep certain information for longer even if you’re no longer a client.

Disclosure of your personal information

Through consenting to this Privacy Policy, Enable Finance Limited may provide your information to third parties who we work with in order to deliver financial products, services or communications to you. This information must only be used for the purpose that has been explicitly communicated with the third parties or as permitted by law and in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, and this Privacy Policy.

Information may be disclosed to the following parties:

  • Anyone who we are legally required or authorised to share your information with, including regulators and government agencies
  • Product Providers and other prospective lenders, third parties or other intermediaries in relation to your finance requirements
  • Our referral partners who can help you with other services
  • Auditors to ensure we are providing services to you that are in your best interests, and in accordance with current regulations
  • Any other person or entity authorised by you or the Privacy Act.

Newsletters and/or other notices

Enable Finance Limited may at times send communications to clients in order to keep you updated with the latest news or promotional material that we think is relevant and you may find of use.

You can choose to opt out of these communications.  Click unsubscribe at the bottom of the email or you can call us on 09 3900039, email info@enablefinance.co.nz or tell your Enable Finance adviser if you don’t want information about other services we offer.

Privacy Policy changes

We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time so please review it frequently. This is done to reflect changes in the law and also our business needs so long as the changes do not disadvantage you. We will take reasonable steps to tell you about the changes.  By continuing to engage us or use our website you will be deemed to have accepted the updated Privacy Policy

Breach of privacy

If we believe that there has been a privacy breach, we will identify the issue and take the appropriate steps to minimise any harm to you.

If we believe the breach has caused, or is likely to cause serious harm, we will contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. We will also contact clients who may be affected by the breach.
